Safe and Effective use of SAMAKI SALARTECT
GUIDANCE FOR FISH FARMERS
PRODUCT INFORMATION
In the late 1980s, Japanese fish farmers found that external parasites on fish could successfully be removed by immersion in a solution of hydrogen peroxide. The potential of this was quickly identified and pioneered in Scotland and Canada for farmed Atlantic salmon by James A Mackie and associates in the early 1990’s. It was found that hydrogen peroxide could be a suitable method to treat external parasites on farmed Atlantic salmon, if applied safely.
The treatment regime for safe and effective use of hydrogen peroxide was developed in association with fish farmers and is presented in this Manual.
